The long arm of the law has caught up with two suspects for the murder of a 39-year-old victim identified as Okundolor Omoruyi in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State after they were both nabbed by officers of the Edo State Police Command.
Reports say the victim who just returned from Italy lost his life to two hired assassins allegedly hired by the estranged lover of the deceased who sought revenge after he purportedly jilted her.
A manhunt was launched by the police for the suspects following the murder of Omoruyi and an 18-year-old girl who was also killed by the suspects for fear that she may recognise one of the men who carried out the killing.
In his confessional statement, one of the suspects who said he only accompanied the gang in the operation revealed that Omoruyi was gunned down by one of their gang members identified as Power.
“My friend said I should follow them somewhere. When we got to a shop, he said I should collect the apron from the seller,” he said.
Continuing, he added that; “I did not know what was in the apron. I later saw my friend bring out a gun and kill the girl. They (gang members) later said we should go to another place where we killed the man (late Omoruyi).”
